“ “1 On the twenty-fourth day of the same month, the Israelites gathered together, fasting and wearing sackcloth, with dust on their heads. 2 Those of Israelite descent separated themselves from all the foreigners, and they stood and confessed their sins and the iniquities of their fathers. 3 While they stood in their places, they read from the Book of the Law of the LORD their God for a quarter of the day, and they spent another quarter of the day in confession and worship of the LORD their God.””
““8 Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn, and weep. Turn your laughter to mourning, and your joy to gloom. 10Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you.””
One thing I cherish so much about God is the fact that even though he hates sin, he has made a provision for forgiveness because of his unconditional love towards us.
As we trust him to move on Saturday, September 13th, we must also acknowledge the state of the community. We are surrounded with all kinds of gates, most of which, we have condoned and covered under “love one another as Christ loved us.” We must call sin out for what it is. We must not be comfortable and tolerate sin. If we want God to have his way, sin has to go, man gets convicted, acknowledges his sin, ask for forgiveness, repent, and gets accepted as a child of God. Nothing else.
The focus of today is to welcome the Holy Spirit to search our hearts and bring out all our hidden sins, as well as those we see, know, and tolerate each day in our families, work places, churches, and communities. We must bring them before God and truly repent and ask God for his mercy and forgiveness.
He is ready to hear and forgive us.
Blessings!!!!
