“And as for you, the anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you do not need
anyone to teach you. But just as His true and genuine anointing teaches you about all things, so
remain in Him as you have been taught.”
John 5:20 “And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true—in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.”
Jeremiah 31:33-34 “33 But this is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the LORD. I will put My law in their minds and inscribe it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they will be My people. 34 No longer will each man teach his neighbor or his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ because they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquities and will remember their sins no more.”
The prophetic word in the book of Jeremiah 31:33-34 has been made manifest in 1 John 2:27 and 1 John 5:20. Every believer in Christ has received a genuine anointing to live for Christ on the day of their salvation. This anointing is what gives the believer the grace to know God and to walk in him in every aspect of their lives, so that they can walk the Christian walk. This anointing is the greater one within us than anything outside in the world according to 1 John 4:4 “But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.”
Therefore, every true believer in Christ is expected to understand what God has freely given to us in Christ Jesus, because they are spiritual things and can only be understood by a spirit-filled mind. 1 Corinthians 2:12-13 “12 We have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. 13 And this is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.”
This dwelling anointing within us is what gives us believers the power to overcome and enables us to walk daily in the victory that was handed over to us through the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. 1 John 5:4-5 “4 because everyone born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith. 5 Who then overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
This anointing builds strength within us to face battles without fear: Psalm 18:32-34 “32 It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way clear. 34 He makes my feet like those of a deer and stations me upon the heights. 34 He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze.”
The anointing that dwells within us enables the word of God to invade the life of the believer, and when this happens, it brings deliverance. No one can deliver themselves even if they try: Psalm 33:16 “ No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength.” The John 8:36 “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” 2 Corinthians 3:17 “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”
The power of the anointing within us is what enables the believer to connect to the blessing as well as enables us to access everything that we need to live a Godly life: Ephesian 1:3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms. 2 Peter 1:3 “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.”
The power of the anointing enables the believer to submit to God, resist the devil, and stand firm in the promises of the Lord: James 4:7 “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” 1 Peter 5: 8 Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in your faith and in the knowledge that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering.”
Our ability to speak the words of God and bring him glory is related to the indwelling anointing: 1 Peter 4:11 “If anyone speaks, he should speak as one conveying the words of God. If anyone serves, he should serve with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.” 2 Timothy 4:17 “But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me, so that through me the message would be fully proclaimed, and all the Gentiles would hear it. So I was delivered from the mouth of the lion.”
This indwelling anointing is meant to be a continuous flow. Therefore, we must work out our salvation according the Word of God, to provide God the platform to work within us, so that His purpose will be fulfilled: Philippians 2:12-13 “12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.”
We are encouraged to treat our daily walk in Christ as a race that needs to be won. The only way to allow a continuous flow of this anointing is to stay in the Word of God and the presence of God through reading/studying the Word- This enables the water of the Word to wash and cleanse us, so that we can walk in righteousness and holiness. When we spend time in prayers and worship, we create an atmosphere where the presence of God becomes attractive and comfortable to dwell. 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 “24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. 27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”
Prayer Points
Without the Holy Spirit the church has no power to function spiritually, and it is considered death although in the eyes of man it is in existence. It was through the power of the Holy Spirit that the Church was formed, and the Apostle walked and lived in this reality. Pray that the Holy Spirit will reveal this reality to the church: John 4:23-24 “ 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
Pray that the grace of God will be released over the church to recognize this anointing, and allow it to work within the church: 1 John 2:27 “And as for you, the anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But just as His true and genuine anointing teaches you about all things, so remain in Him as you have been taught.”
Pray that the church will desire to come before the Lord as the Apostle Paul is urging: When we present ourselves before God, it helps us focus on him than the world: Romans 12:1-2 “1Therefore I urge you, brothers, on account of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
Pray that the power of God will do much more then we can even ask in prayer, just as stated in this verse: Ephesians 3:20-21 “20 Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, 21 to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
Pray for the desire to make ourselves available to God and remain in Him, so that we can access all that we have in Him through the death and resurrection of Christ: John 15:4-5 “4 Remain in Me, and I will remain in you. Just as no branch can bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in Me. 5 I am the vine and you are the branches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing.
Pray that the church will desire for Christ to dwell in our hearts through faith, so as to provide the platform for the flow of His anointing within us: Ephesian 3: 17-19 “17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. Then you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 will have power, together with all the saints, to comprehend the length and width and height and depth 20 of the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”
Pray that the church will arise and throw out everything/distraction that stands in the way or serving God and look on to Jesus: Hebrews 12:1-2 “1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Pray that the church will be sensitive to the things that turn off the presence of God, including the old ways of life: Colossians 3:3-10 “8 But now you must put aside all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. 9 Do not lie to one another, since you have taken off the old self with its practices, 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.” Ephesians 4 “22 to put off your former way of life, your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be renewed in the spirit of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”
One of the problems of the church today is that we are attached to so many things and Christ. Paul was very clear about his dealing. He left all behind him and focused on Christ. Pray that the church will arise to reality: Philippians 3:8 “More than that, I count all things as loss compared to the surpassing excellence of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ.”
Pray for grace to resist the devil in every aspect of his intimidating tactics towards the church: 1 Peter 5: 8 Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in your faith and in the knowledge that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering.”
Pray for the grace to return to the place of prayer and the Word of God: Isaiah 56:7 “I will bring them to My holy mountain and make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on My altar, for My house will be called a house of prayer for all the nations.”
